Fagbenro C. Boluwatife
I am a multidisciplinary Artist who believes Art can change the world . I am driven by the vision of improving Creative education in Nigeria using Art as a tool for positive change. Having grown up in an environment where creative education is undervalued, I am passionate about training young individuals in the arts. I aim to empower the next generation through art, creating platforms for underrepresented voices and contributing to a more inclusive and sustainable future through creativity.
Artist Statement
In Geology, strata are layers of sedimentary rock or soil that have been deposited over time and are typically distinguished by differences in composition, texture or color .My work reflects these strata as boundaries which relates to how i view society and people- growing up in Nigeria, a country with different ethnic groups, culture and religion, it was common to experience conflicts, disagreements and strife due to our differences and this made me realize the real boundaries are the ones we cannot see and people are made up of different complexities which I project as different color bands in my paintings primarily made up of Oils.
I explore the thin line of tension that exists between these different structural backgrounds. My work aims to bring people together irrespective of their backgrounds and ponder on if boundaries are what holds us together and not what divides us.
